Personally, if we are not wearing it, we always have an insulation jacket tucked into our hunting pack. Lightweight, packable and one of the most valuable pieces of gear when the temp drops below freezing. A good hunting insulation jacket will keep you warm and knock the wind down. We designed the Tailwind with what we feel is the best synthetic insulation (Primaloft Gold) and a high quality Toray rip-stop polyester shell.
What we look for in an insulated hunting jacket:
– Warmth to weight – High warmth in a low bulk jacket
– Quality synthetic or down
– Shooters cut – Cut to hunt
– Compressible – Fits in pack or stuff sack
We chose to introduce the Tailwind Puffy with a synthetic insulation, and when choosing an insulation, not all are created equal. Primaloft Gold is regarded as the apex in synthetic insulation options. The main advantage of using synthetic insulation is that it does not clump up when wet like down and will also hold heat when damp and dry faster.

The Tailwind combines a 42g polyester rip-stop outer with a lofty 133g Primaloft Gold insulation to create a lightweight, warm and packable shell. The Tailwind can be worn alone or under the Phantom Jacket for additional warmth. We consider the Tailwind to be a technical outerwear garment that can be used in a multitude of environments. The Tailwind is a great addition to any hunters arsenal and can be easily tossed into a pack due to it being highly compressible. Stay warmer, hunt longer.

Features: The Tailwind Puffy has two unlined hand-warmer pockets and one right-sided outer chest pocket. The hand-warmer pockets have a 6″ zipper but have a large 7 x 12″ interior. The chest pocket has a 5″ zipper and 6 x 6″ interior.
The interior of the jacket has two very roomy fine-mesh stretch pockets that measure at 10 x 12″. This is a great feature of the jacket due to the pocket size and breathability. These large pockets enable the user to store damp items and allow for ample dry time. The large format of the inner pockets is also great for gloves, binos or a rangefinder. The inner stretch pockets are perfect for keeping items dry, warm, and out of the elements.

We debated on whether or not to add a hood and in the end, we decided we needed it. It added a bit of cost to production but was worth it. The hood has a low profile and is completely unobtrusive when not being used. When it’s cold, a hood is a huge asset
