The camouflage industry is no doubt a brand rich environment.
Today there are dozens of patterns available to the modern hunter. In all honesty, we are not here to tell you that our pattern is the end-all be-all in the camo world, that is for you to decide yourself. However, we designed a pattern that we thought fit the needs of the whitetail hunter that spends a lot of his/her time in the outdoors. We wanted a pattern with earth tones and massive break-up characteristics. The inspiration behind Deadfall came from a camo brand that was prevalent in the midwest in the 1970’s, and 80’s known as the Winona Camo System. Bob Fratzke designed what I feel is one of the best patterns of all time. In my opinion, simple is often best, so that is what we set out to accomplish.
Bob was truly an innovator in the hunt-wear industry. He was a well-known figure in the midwest but never gained attention on a national scale. His designs and apparel styles were some of the finest available to the whitetail hunter and while it seemed that his brand would never die, it was sunk when the knitting mill in Winona, MN shut down in June of 1989. Just like that, Winona Camo was gone.
With the launch of this brand, our pattern will be tested in a multitude of environments, and we are eagerly anticipating feedback from hunters across the nation. 2017 will undoubtedly be an exciting year for the Thlete crew, and we are ready to get apparel into the hands of hunters nationwide. The Tailwind Puffy has been received very well, and we are already receiving very positive feedback from customers across the Midwest. Stay tuned for further launch updates as we move closer to spring.
